The American Union (AU), commonly referred to as America or simply the Union, is a union consisting of 45(? - depends on fate of Hawai'i and Qatar) states, a federal district, and 2(? - depends on fate of Hawai'i and Qatar) populated territories in the Middle East and Europe. The contiguous XX states and the federal district of Denver, F.D.A., take up most of North America with Quebec to the northeast, and Yucatan to the south. The state of Cuba is the largest Caribbean Island and lays near the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico, the state of Hawai'i is a archipelago in the mid-Pacific, and the state of Qatar is a peninsula in the Persian Gulf branching off of the Arabian Peninsula. With a total area of XX million sq. mi. (XX million km2) and a total population of around ~400 million people, the American Union is the largest *country by area and the 3rd largest by population. It is one of the worlds most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries.
