Akamai Industries Inc., commonly known as Akamai, is a Hawaiian multinational diversified metals, minerals, oil & gas, energy, and mining corporation headquartered in Honolulu, Oahu, Kingdom of Hawai’i. Founded in October, 1956 by Kei Palakiko in Hilo, Hawai’I, Akamai has grown to be the largest company in Hawaii in the fields of energy and mining and has continuously been ranked as the largest company in Polynesia and America by revenue since 1987 and 2017 respectively.
Akamai operates within the Kingdom of Hawai’i, Republic of Greater Melanesia, Republic of Panama, Citizen's Republic of Mexico, Commonwealth of Ohio, Canada, New Michigan, and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Recently, it has halted all operations within the Commonwealth of Australia due to complications pursuing a renewal of its license to operate within the country though continues to pursue renewal and has also ceased all operations within the Federative Republic of Brazil and Republic of Peru due to the on-going Hawaiian-Honduran War. It also sold off all assets within the Republic of Texas six months prior to the 2030 military coup, citing rising operational costs and concerns over stability in the nation.
Products of Akamai include natural gas, base metals, diamonds, aluminum, lava cinder, coal, cement, stone, sand and gravel, limestone, clay, gold, silver, coal, oil, dolomite, salt, sandstone, gypsum, peat, uranium, and thorium. Akamai also provides several energy related services, providing power to millions around the globe through fossil fuel burning plants and green energies such as geothermal plants, hydroelectric plants, solar farms, and wind farms.
As of 2008, Akamai Industries Inc. was the leading energy provider in the Kingdom of Hawai’i, providing over 87% of all domestic energy demands, including all energy demands of Puerto Rico and Galapagos. In 2021, Akamai was contracted by the city of Honolulu under the Green City Initiative to construct several new clean power sources for the greater Honolulu metropolitan area, bringing in approximately $50Billion(KHD) for the company so far. In 2030, the company gained access to significant nickel supplies within the Kanak Republic of New Caledonia, later the Republic of Greater Melanesia, as a result of agreements made between the local government and that of Hawaii.
