Reforms are the only alternative to help this group achieve a level of activity in some form, at least for the existing core members, and the Administrative Board shall take these core members as it's priority, here are some of the planned reforms:
I: Creation of a new community project:
It's fairly obvious that this is the only way we can get active, so a new project is to be agreed on in the following days.
II: The return of contests:
Eventually after a steady rythm has been achieved, contests will be reintroduced to help carry interest even further.
III: The reopening of group relationships:
Inter-group short term projects used to be a thing back in the day, let us try to do this once more.

- The Coalition will repay the damages done to the Germanic Union
- The Northern German Coalition must also divide itself into the states conformed by it and must repay the damages caused to Bavaria.
- The Coalition must repay the damages done to the Republic of France
- The French Republic will compensate citizens of Bavaria that were damaged during the war with the exception of those involved in strategic bombing operations.

Thankfully we've seen that the flame of EoEP is still there, and people have restarted part of the project, however we should discuss how we plan to actually carry this out, finish off certain canon history, clearing things up and hoping for the best.
(And perhaps discuss the future of UMB?)

We'll be playing Kaiserreich, a mod for the HoI game Darkest Hour that asks the following question: What if the Germans won World War I?
(Edited by Globallcry)
There's recently been an incentive to relanch EoEP into the year 2100. This requires to fill in the history that we skipped, with the main questions being:
-What could have happened?
-Is (x nation) still existing?
-Did another (x event) happen?
-How much did technology change?-Who won the World Cup?

So I realized recently IFA was kind of well, fake, as I decided every outcome on a very strict formula and made the losing side score 1 or 2 goals to make it look authentic. So I decided to change it up a bit.]
So basically, I return to flipping a coin. However this time it is not completly randomized as it was before. Instead, each team gets a number of flips called "chances". The amount of chances is decided by this forumla:
3 free chances + IRL Skill rating (1-3) + Popularity of football rating (1-3) + Home advantage (1)
so it adds up to a total of 10 chances, which means the highest scoring game possible is a 10-10 draw.
just thought i'd post it here for future reference and discussion of the forumla

So I am finally doing this. I haven't thought of a name that would maybe suit this nation, but for now I am going with Songhai.
So, Songhai is a land area that borders Mali and Niger to the North and Camaroon to the South-East. It's coastal provinces span all through the Southern West of Africa. It's government in a Constituional Monarchu and has represenative states (similer to the USA). The Governor is elected via the population in the region. Prime Minister elections are held every 6 years and Governors are elected every 4 years. The capital (currently) in Gao.
The Kingdom was formed from the resurrection of African countries from it's Western overlords. The French colonies of West African formed a union between each other for excellent relations. The union was successful and they signed the Treaty of Kumasi which made them a single nation while still governing their previous region with a representative. The union was an inspiration, some of the local previous British colonies send an message to the King asking for an annexation of their nation to join the union. These were signed and the British Western African nations were integrated into the union. After the United States collapsed, Liberia was stray. Not getting funded, and un-self sufficient. Almost in debt, Songhai proposed that Liberia were to join the union. Liberia is desperate need, signed the the new Treaty of Monrovia.
I haven't came up with an idea to conquer some of Mali and Camaroon, so I will edit this when I get an idea, but feel free to ask any questions, or give suggestions!

With only three Directors left, the Board of Directors and Tyro have decided an election is needed to get at least 2 more Directors in order to have more active and diverse admnistrators to serve the community.
Just so we don't have everyone one and their fourth cousins running for BoD, the top 6 people in number of nominations will run for the official election, and 2 of them will be promoted into the Board. You can nominate 3 people, including yourself.
Nominations will not be counted if you are not logged in, unless you claim the post with an account. The nominations will run until 8:00 am UTC 11/1/2015.

Too make things a little more clearer, lets us go back in time to 1866.
In real life history, the Satsuma and Chōshū formed an alliance to defeat the Togukawa Shogunate. These two factions have always been enemies but were joined together for a common cause: to dismantle the Togukawa Shogunate. So while the leaders may have some similer objectives, the people of these factions would not share that same desire.
"Days before the Sanchō Alliance would be signed, daimyō Mori Takachika of Chōshū by Satsuma supremest. The Chōshū immediately proclaimed this to be the Satsuma court's doing and declared war on them. The Satsuma clearly had superior weapons as they have been trading with the British for quite some time. You could say the Satsuma tooked it too far: with these new weapons they obliterated the capital of the Chōshū faction. With the ports been already opened by American warships, the Emperor and Shogun aliked came to an agreement to start a trade route with the French; so they could import weapons to repell the rising Satsuma clan."
After a couple of mishmash battles the Satsuma's clan leader was killed and established extra revenues to rebuild the Chōshū capital.
So, without the Sanchō Alliance never being signed, the Imperial forces would be greatly reduced. Making the Boshin War without them an act of suicide.
If any other required information or questions are needed to make this canon, please comment.

Today, Monday, October 13th, is officially Indigenous People's Day, Native American Day, Discoverer's Day, or Columbus Day in the United States (depending on where you are). The Universal Mini Builders recognizes and observes this date relevant to Italian, Polynesian, and Native American heritage.
What about you, do you celebrate anything in your region today? Do you get off of school or work? Feel free to share!

I thought I'd make a new flag or two for Ivor since his current flag is out of place (What the heck is with the Nordic cross that symbolizes Christianity, for one?) anyways so here is the flags:

(I'm actually surprised i couldn't find a thread about this already.)
This thread will likely be building upon the following threads (among some others):
- "History of Texas and the Wider Region"
- "WWII - Third Reich + League Of Nations"
- "Japan-World War II"
- "American History"
It will also likely be building upon the histories of the following major states, among others: Poland, Russia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Ethiopia, Britan, France, and Greater Melanesia.
So, to start off, I quickly put together a rough map of what the first (blue), second (red), and third (orange/brown) worlds may of looked like (using modern borders):
As you can see, I highlighted significant states in a darker color. For the First World, I highlighted France, Britain, Poland, Russia, and Greater Melanesia. For the Second World, I highlighted Mexico, Brazil, Peru, and Ethiopia. For the Third World, I highlighted California, the Confederate States of America, Argentina, Iberia, and China.
- Europe is mostly under the First World sphere of influence with some Third World states in the West;
- in Asia there is a fair sized Second World stronghold in Central as well as East Asia in addition to several Third World States in the South and Central regions and various First World states in the North and West;
- Africa is majority Third World, however there are First World strongholds to the far North and the far South and the Second World holds a sizable swath of land across Central Africa;
- America is mostly Second World, with a few Third World states in the far South, and in the North, as well as with some few First World states in the far North and the Central/Carribean.region;
- Oceania is mostly First World with some Third World states.
From there, I also thought it might be helpful in any discussion on the history of the Cold War to highlight some important barriers between the first and second world sphere of influences (purple lines):
- You will note that the Kingdom of Hawai'i, with its colonies of Puerto Rico, Galapagos, and Nicaragua, is key to ensuring continued First World access to the Nicaraguan Canal.
- Canada, Ohio, and the North Atlantic Republic prevent Mexico from expanding any further North without making the Cold War a thermonuclear warm one.
- South Africa, Natal, and Nambia prevent Second World influence from spreading further South than Angola and Congo (Zaire).
- Cyrenaica and Saudi Arabia prevent Second World Influence from heading further North, and Egypt serves as an important roadblock as well due to its hosting the International Union Headquarters.
- Second World strongholds of Turkmenistan, East Turkestan, Mongolia, and Mengjiang are surrounded by First World and decidedly neutral Third World states.
- Second World strongholds of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines are also surrounded by First World and neutral Third World states.
So, this all said, the objective of this thread I suppose is to determine how the Cold War went down, who beat the Commies, and how they did that. As you can see, while the First World was large, the Second World was in a pretty decent position, controlling one continent and large chunks of two others isn't exactly a weak hand.

The issue of Ethiopian canon history and their land claims has recently been raised, as such I've started this thread in hopes that we can discuss the issue in detail and try to come to an agreement over how to resolve it, without having to do so through conflicting wall roleplay that may not represent the best fitting possible scenario for how Ethiopia came to where it is today.
To start with, above is a map of Ethiopia roughly as it is recognized today, and here is a map with non-Ethiopian lands roughly highlighted in lighter orange:
The following RL states normally occupy these lands (independence day in parentheses, from whom next to date):
- Somalia (1960, Italy/UN)
- Djibouti (1977, France)
- Eritrea (1993, Ethiopia)
- South Sudan (2011, Sudan; 1956, UK/Egypt)
So, getting the easy two out of the way...
Eritrea
One will first note Eritrea was a part of RL Ethiopia until, officially, the 1990's, but as such I don't believe it would be entirely unreasonable to turn focus away from them and simply accept that either they have remained with Ethiopia to date without incident, perhaps because of differing conditions and policies within Ethiopia, or that there was incident but they failed to successfully secede or, if secession was not the goal, they managed to bring forth policy change to a great enough extent to pacify the Eritrean population (but probably not so great that Ethiopia was threatened by the demands, maybe just a bit more representation or some economic policies that impact Eritrea, something to do with the coast perhaps).
Sudan
And then, second, one will note South Sudan was gained in the EOEP2 via World War IV. Now, while the details of the African theater in WWIV have still yet to be fully sorted out, as it was recorded a bit messily and recent canon necessitates some minor alterations to the record of events, it still continues to be recognized that Ethiopia went to war with Sudan, defeated and occupied Sudan, and somehow held on to South Sudan. That said, I honestly just see two options there, that,
- (1), Ethiopia holds on to South Sudan from the conflict with no established plans of freeing those lands, or,
- (2), Ethiopia is subject to an official agreement as a part of what ever treaty ended the conflict that sets forth a specific timeline for Ethiopia to follow to rebuild and free these lands, perhaps requiring that a referendum be held to allow South Sudan to decide between independence and returning to Sudan.
Now, I would argue that option 2 is probably the better one and would probably make the most sense given i don't think it would of been considered appropriate for nations to be going into WWIV to take land, but then again option 1 obviously isn't out of the question. If option 1 is the route taken, then I'm sure Ethiopia will have a rocky path to go down with that, it's likely they'd develop the region and invest in an Ethiopian-centric education system there, but whether that'd be enough to keep the South Sudanese from taking the streets for a little while would have to be seen...
But, the two easier states out of the way, we come to what would seem to be the more difficult ones to answer: Somalia and Djibouti.
Djibouti
Okay, so from what I can determine, Djibouti had been passed around among a bunch of different small nations over the ages until finally being sold off by a few of them to the French to form French Somaliland. From there, it remained with France, having a few votes on independence (with lots of accusations of the French rigging the ballots and kicking out Somalis just before votes), but finally agreeing almost universally on independence in the 70's. Prior to that successful independence votes, most votes were on whether to stay with the French or join the independent state of Somalia. The capital of the country was Obock until 1896 when it was moved to Djibouti, which is apparently where the modern country gets its name from.
That all said, I think that for this matter we should simply say that Djibouti doesn't exist. Instead, we should tie their fate directly to that of Somalia. So, with that...
Somalia
So it would appear that Samolia was also historically split up between a bunch of different little nations, but then as the Scramble began the leader of the Dervish state (which Wikipedia doesn't have a map of but a Google search found some that show it occupying the general area of the Ethiopian Somali Region while I found another that suggested it was also in the Somalian territory of Sool and maybe Sanaag, but I suppose I digress) apparently organized the region to put up one of the bigger attempts to resist colonization, as well as to resist the Ethiopians who had sided with the British and themselves have a history of expansion. The leader sort of partially united the Somali people super shortly and put up a fair initial fight with the support of Arab powers/the Ottomans, but they eventually fell due to British aerial bombing in I guess the 1920s and became a protectorate (which I suppose supports Derv being along the northern coast, since that's where British Somaliland was). Then the Italians, already having their lands in the region go all fascist and start invading everyone, but eventually control basically most if not all of the Horn of Africa.
So this is basically where we start having some options but since Ethiopia took Eritrea with it when it regained independence I'm thinking the most likely answer here, or at least it's the one I like, is that Ethiopia took Somalia and Djibouti with it as well and that when the British came in they simply united all of the lands together. A diverse government could of been created upon independence, though the region was bound to face a fair bit of armed conflict (from what I can tell, not really any of the countries IRL haven't had some sort of armed conflict since independence), and could of eventually stabilized and become the Ethiopian power we know today.
I mean, we could have them go along as normal and then have Ethiopia invade, but... IDK, this seems better, an invasion may not necessarily be entirely realistic anyways, Ethiopia IRL has had several wars with basically all of them and yet there they all are, independent, not under Ethiopia's flag... So....Yeah.

Seeing as I'm no longer the only one calling for the Republic of Turkey to allow its non-Turkish lands to pursue self determination and self governing, I thought I'd try to work up a vague idea on what that might look like (obviously with a lot of room for adjustment).
The map I used was Sirlegolot's old map (a really old copy of it) so naturally some inaccurate details but it got the job done well enough to give the general idea of the borders and countries.
Labeled above include:
- (A Jewish State (Possibly Israel))
- Lebanon
- (An Alawite State)
- (A Sunni State)
- Jordan
- Sinai
- (A Shi'ite State)
- Kuwait
- Kurdistan
- Istanbul
- Northern Cyprus
- Southern Cyprus
I threw in Cyprus without any knowledge of what state it's cannonically in, I just figured it's not out of the question that the divisions between Greek and Turkish peoples there would still exist.
I also threw in Kuwait figuring it's possible they're a thing but finding Wikipedia didn't have the sort of information on their history that I'd of wanted to figure that out.
Then I also added in a Sinai state with Gaza under its rule, figuring it's possible and also figuring that while Egypt will surely want them back and a political union or an invasion is bound to be at least discussed in the future for now we may be able to avoid some drama between Egypt and Laginia by not uniting them right away, once they do they're sure to want to go to war with Laginia to get the Suez or at the least throw a really big fit in the various Unions.
The Jewish state is based roughly in part on what the UN originally proposed with a mix of how those borders began to change as the various conflicts arose, with the proposed independent Arab states simply being merged with neighboring states but there being the possibility of independence on their own. I used this map to figure this all out:
And then on the matter of the Alawite, Shi'ite, and Sunni states, I based them in part on this map that is apparently based on religious demographics and existing political divisions (like autonomous Kurdish regions in Iraq I guess) that would go towards these sort of states:
I also used these two flags that show religion, ethnicity, stuff like that:
I based Kurdistan on an array of sources, including the above shown maps, and also just a bit of guess work and a wee bit of just what looked right. There's apparently not really any concrete ideas on what a Kurdish state would look like, so I don't think what I've proposed could necessarily be called unrealistic. Some I saw did also suggest adding in some Kurdish territory in Iran, but I opted not to do that without the consent of Iran (which is unlikely to come given Iran is all about expanding right now - we can probably go after their empire next).
(Edited by Texar96)
Since this is an issue that's been discussed a bit recently but not actually given the spotlight it deserves...
Laginian claims to the Suez are based on unreasonable and poorly researched canon and on what I would argue would constitute either a form of godmodding and metagaming or an unprecedented level of luck. I have a variety of points I can make to support this view and, based upon them, I would like to move that an admin (in other words Tyro) step in and have their claims either be nullified, i.e. no longer canon, or that they be re-characterized as something along the lines of an occupation or a captured territory from a 20th century conflict, perhaps WWI when the Ottomans were being given their final blow, however even that would be difficult to sell considering how vital the canal is and the likelihood of other European powers not being comfortable with Iberian powers controlling access to the Mediterranean.
I will note that I do not raise this issue out of hope for any personal benefit, it's a pretty long trip from me to the Suez so I doubt Congolese trade even goes through it and I have absolutely no Mediterranean interests (Europe could sink into the sea and I'd be fine and I have other means of reaching African states in the sea, assume I actually do much trade with them directly), nor out of personal spite (I think both Gost and Dark are great, in fact I couldn't imagine either the group or the EOEP without them, I merely find this canon incredibly problematic).
Three of the bigger points include:
- Metagaming/Unprecedented Luck: Why Suez?
While canals of some sort have existed between the Red Sea and the Nile River at many times over the ages, effectively connecting the Med and the Red, the last canal supposedly filled up with sand around 1,000 AD - meaning it'd been centuries since the idea would likely of even been entertained in the region. This would discredit any ideas out there (should any happen to exist) that the Laginian settlers may of come to the region, apparently in the 16th century, with hopes of building a canal. One will then also point out that the Suez Canal was not built until the 19th century, three centuries after Laginia apparently settled the area, so that also would not of been a motivation for settling the area.
From there, I would also bring up the fact that the region was basically pretty useless, just sand, and pretty loosely populated. So far as I can tell, there was no major settlement along the strip of territory Laginia claims and nor was there any sort of significant natural resources in the region to lure settlers. It is also incredibly unlikely that there'd be any political events occurring at the time that'd drive Laginians to the opposite side of the sea, far from their kingdom.
So why would Laginian settlers of chosen to make the trek all the way to this region to set up shop in a sand-filled wasteland? It wasn't because of politics, trade, resources, or strategic value, and I fail to think of any alternative explanations. As such, I'd argue the sole purpose for the existence of this settlement is based on metagaming to establish an incredibly shady canonical grounds upon which to control a significant trade route. Most likely they just decided they wanted the canal first and then quickly thought up an explanation for it later, one that, as I am arguing here, does not work. - Where's All The War??
There's also the very big problem of explaining how the hell this region at the heart of many regional powers somehow manages to isolate itself. For example,Wikipedia:
(On Sinai) "The peninsula was governed as part of Egypt under the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt from 1260 until 1517, when the Ottoman Sultan, Selim the Grim, defeated the Egyptians at the Battles of Marj Dabiq and al-Raydaniyya, and incorporated Egypt into the Ottoman Empire."
Oh, yeah, and then there's the Ottomans, who ruled Sinai until 1906 but we can happily just say had the region Laginia claims until the rise of the Muhammad Ali dynasty in roughly 1805, or perhaps the French occupation of Egypt in 1798.
Oh, but wait, there's yet another power Laginia would have to of somehow overcome or avoided (which, considering the central position of the Suez region, is pretty impossible): the French. The French invaded and occupied Egypt from July 1st, 1798, when he landed in Alexandria up until I suppose 1800/1801.
That said, I can not for the life of me imagine how Laginia could of defended this distant colony from the Egyptians, the Ottomans, and the French, and I haven't even mentioned modern history because if I recall correctly the region wasn't exactly sparred from fighting in the 19th and 20th centuries. Further, even if Laginia COULD of fended these powers off or avoided conflict with them entirely, they still would likely of seriously messed up the course of history for those states, meaning all of human history would of been messed up because the Ottomans and French have certainly played key roles in the fate of the world and the Egyptians weren't exactly insignificant (plus, even if we could make these changes to history work, that would be such an incredible amount of work to figure out how to do that, it's really not at all worth it). - Who Let This Happen!?
While the previous point brought up historical conflicts, I'd also have to wonder how Laginia has avoided modern conflicts aimed at securing the Suez Canal. In fact, why would any of the various Afroeurasian powers allow Laginia to have effectively sole control over trade entering and leaving the Mediterranean? In fact, forget world and regional powers, how about the freaking International Union just next door and their anti-colonial mission? Hell, they even have a settlement at the entrance to the Black Sea (which I'm not even going to begin to talk about) so they could probably exert control over trade going through there, too, meaning that Laginia has somehow been allowed to put itself in a position to bring the entire global economy crashing to a halt in the blink of an eye.
That said, I can not for the life of me fathom how or why this has been allowed to happen, both in RP, given various powers would surely opposed this, and in meta, given this surely has to smell super fishy to admins too, right??? if someone were to suddenly claim South Africa, the Northwest Passage, the Nicaraguan Canal, and the Strait of Magellan, people would surely throw a huge fuss, those random colonies aimed to just exert sole control over global trade would be seen as godmodding and outrageous and would surely be nullified, so how on Earth is this any different??????????
